ThoughtsI'm SO sorry it took me so long to post a blog about the awards...so much is going on that I can't keep pace with it all. The Grammy Awards! Wow!! What an experience of a lifetime!! I met SO SO many off-the-chain Artists!! I was also blessed to be in the company of some of the greatest talents of our time.
"WHO ARE YOU WEARING": I was SUPER blessed to have Lisa Rupp "Seriera" Designs make me a dress to die for! It was a "flounce" dress made out of the most luxurious dark-purple silk!! I wore a pair of gold Christian Louboutin platform shoes and an incredible Indian-designed 22K necklace and earring set. My hair was styled in an Egyptian ponytail done by the FIERCE Miss Scarlett McGinley!! I felt like a true Queen folks!!
BEFORE THE GRAMMY AWARDS CEREMONY: I arrived in Los Angeles Friday evening and met up with Tom & Yvonne Schuman (Spyro Gyra). We were booked in the Sheraton Hotel downtown LA. The hotel was wonderful including the staff and Management. My first order of business was to hook up with my friend, Seth in LA and my PR person, Actress, Rachel Zeskind -- gave her a call and she arranged to meet me Saturday evening (which became a MAJOR highlight of the event as well). Stanley Jordan arrived shortly after I did but he was staying in another Hotel up the street. We touched base and he scheduled me to perform with him for an opening of an Art/Music Gallery in downtown LA the next day.
SATURDAY PERFORMANCE WITH STANLEY JORDAN: Seth picked me up in this jaw-dropping beautiful, new Mercedes Benz (OK, I love my cars...what can I say) ;o) We arrived at the Art Gallery and, again, Security was in full effect -- Stanley pulled up just moments after we did. Stanley's performance was so incredible that people wouldn't have believed it if they hadn't seen and heard it!! I sang a few songs with him and the my voice was well-received. I passed out ALL my business cards and a couple of gigs were scheduled from the event. THANK YOU, STANLEY!! ;O)
WALKING THE RED CARPET: I rode in a black-stretch Limo with Tom & Yvonne Schuman (Spyro Gyra). Security for the awards was intense. Police were everywhere and they metal-detected each limo before we arrived at the Red Carpet. They also weighed each car to ensure the passengers and contents were appropriate for the weight of the car. MAN!! They were NOT playing around with any of us, OK?? hahaha As the car approached the the entrance to the Red Carpet it all seemed so surreal to me. Tom and Yvonne were enjoying the moment but it was "old news" to them as Spyro Gyra were attending the ceremony AND nominated for the 13th time!! I'm currently in Mexico City on my way home from a gig/visiting my special loved one...got to catch my plane...I'll finish this when I get to Los Angeles Airport OK??...OK, I'm in LA now! WHEW!! What a day of traveling this has been. OK, where was I...oh yes, as we headed to the Pre-telecast portion, we met up with Stanley, his lovely girlfriend and his beautiful daughter, Julia. All of us had an absolute blast!! "Steppin' Out" lost to the Eagles' "There is no War" tune. Bummer...but the nomination is still VERY COOL indeed!!!
I did an interview with Rachel Zeskind in the Limo for "Look to the Stars". I'll put it on my page soon for you to take a look at. Also, interviewed with Real TV Films...try and catch it on the web...somewhere. ;o) Rachel and her assistant, Sydney were two of the most incredible people I'd ever met!! Not only were they the most beautiful people, they were the most loving, kind and talented ladies! Rachel, with her awesome connections worked miracles and got me interviews, into Grammy after-parties (only for Press purposes) all over the city!! I LOVE THEM!!
GRAMMY AWARDS TELECAST PORTION: Watching it on TV and being there are two VERY different experiences. Being there was AWESOME. I had great seats (row 4, seat 5) in the VIP section. I could go on and on about the telecast but I'll conclude by listing the MOST important people and events that I thoroughly enjoyed:

I know there is NOTHING too hard for God and He's giving me glimpses everyday of what's in store for me. I'm claiming and BELIEVING IT in Jesus's matchless Name AMEN!!!!!!!
